Current category: Blow-off valves
About category:
![]() Blow-off valves replace the standard bypass or diverter valves whose job it is to relieve pressure at closed throttle, thus protecting the charger and avoid the "turbo lag" that would occur when opening the throttle .
- Many turbo engines are fitted with simple bypass valves, often made of plastic. The simple plastic membranes "lick" often, so that air escapes even at full load and the engine decreases. - When the throttle moves for shifting or braking, the throttle is quickly closed while the compressor continues to promote. There is an increase in pressure and a back pressure. The charger works, so to speak "against himself", the compressor wheel is braked sharply and mechanically stressed. When re-acceleration of the loader must first be re-accelerated to reach full speed. The result is a "turbo lag". The blow-off valve is opened by the resulting an locked behind the throttle vacuum, the excess pressure is reduced, the loader can continue to rotate freely, while accelerating the full capacity is immediately available again. |
